Auto Insurance companies as a general rule review a claim, determine the extent of damage, estimate the repair cost, disperse payment in the name of the car accident victim, and pay the body service shop. Working from the projected cost, the body service shop will massage their numbers so that the profit margins are big; in other words, they want as much of the insurance claims cash as possible. This is done by adding labor fees, finder fees, process fees, and operating fees. In addition to this, they will repair your automobile using second-hand components, junk components, and substandard supplies such as bondo and fiberglass. In order to make sure that you, the car owner, will get the repair you deserve on your automobile, complete the following steps:
1. Never sign over your accident compensation claim money to the auto service shop until they repair your vehicle thoroughly. Auto body repair shops will tell you half-truths about why they cannot complete the work with the quality you hope them to perform. Keep in mind, the service center should not receive payment until you are satisfied and don't shift in this.
2. Inform them that the old damaged auto body parts have to be repaired with new auto body parts. Sorry to say, you must use body putty or fiberglass when getting seams smooth; however, you will be able to escape from using body putty and/or fiberglass to fill out indentations when using new parts. Too much body putty or fiberglass can reduce the value of the automobile.
3. Let them know that used or refurbished auto body components won't do. Consider that, you purchase car insurance so that in the event of an accident, the insurance company must disperse a settlement to bring the automobile back to its pre-accident form. The only occasion you need second-hand materials is when the brand new materials are not available.
